Five tips for blogging in 2022
I’m predicting that blogging will be back with a vengeance in the coming year. Blogs not only draw your audience to your website, they keep people there. Rather than tapping to the next story or post, if you have pulled someone to your blog, there is more opportunity for them to poke around your website and focus on you rather than the other billion or so accounts on social media.
Savvy business owners and marketers never stopped but I speak to so many that either started and stopped, never started or have been planning on starting but haven’t got there yet. Just like I say about our social media being a marketing tool, our blog is too and it deserves its own strategy and plan. The best part is, once you create a blog post, you can pull it apart and repurpose it for all your social media platforms - double win!!
Here a five tips to keep in mind when getting started or returning to blogging:
Be consistent - schedule one post a week so you know that there is a least one new blog coming out. This takes the pressure off because you know you are ahead, then you can add in extras as you can.
Focus on your content pillars and remember to educate, entertain and inspire. Think about the topics that your social media audience responds to best and use these as a starting point.
Provide value - your audience has so much choice so you need to make sure that the content you provide helps them in some way. Think about the tips you can share and problems you can solve.
Be authentic and transparent - consumers have moved beyond tolerating thinly veiled attempts to hide ads in content. Your blog needs to be about sharing your expert knowledge. Be open and honest and then even when giving a product link or talking about a service, your audience will be ok about it.
Find your voice - one of the best compliments I’ve received was a client telling me that when they read my content it feels like I’m in the room with them. Write it as you would say it to their face, without jargon.
