Blogging will be huge in 2022
I’m calling it now. If the last two years have shown us anything, it’s that as human beings we crave connection and engagement. On top of that, the demand for nostalgia is going nowhere. In some ways the pandemic has called us out by forcing us to stop and slow down and in many ways, return to the past.
Ten or so years ago, when blogging ruled, we used social media to drive traffic to our blogs right?! Then somewhere along the way, we realised that we could micro blog on platforms like Instagram and Facebook and sell and build public profiles that way. So the blog was set aside.
But, at some point we realised that those neglected blogs were actually doing good and we needed to fill them with SEO friendly keywords and multiple back links. They were driving website traffic, they were more secure than a social media account and we could use that blog post and repurpose it for our social media content.
So that brings us to now, where it’s on our to-do list to get that blog up and going but not seen as important as our next Instagram post.
In 2022, the fight for digital space will only intensify. Your audience wants to know you but there are countless other business owners that want the same audience to know them too. A blog gives you the opportunity to deep dive into evergreen topics areas, provide detailed examples of your expert knowledge and have the focus on you for longer.
When you write your blogs, think about what your audience wants from you. Focus on your content pillars, answer the questions your audience wants answered, interact with the comments and promote it on your socials with snippets and links. You want your blogs to be 100% focused on providing value to the reader because you are asking them to dedicate a bigger chunk of time to just you and what you have to say.
Then comes SEO, which is a world of it’s own but as a starting point think keyword research. There are some great (free) sites such as Answer The Public that you can use to find out what people are searching for, plus you can do some Googling yourself and see what posts are ranking highest in your niche.
Remember, like most things in marketing land, it’s a long term relationship. You are building foundations, forming a relationship and creating a brand identity and that takes time and consistency.
What will you be blogging about in 2022?
