5 Social Media Marketing Trends to Watch in 2025

5 Social Media Marketing Trends to Watch in 2025

The social media landscape right now is almost impossible to keep up with and 2025 promises to bring significant shifts. I’ve put together five key trends that should be on your radar as you review your marketing strategies.

1. AI Integration will Dominate

In December 2024, big tech players revealed exciting advancements in conversational AI, video and image AI and task-based automation. In 2025, marketers will increasingly train AI tools to serve as marketing assistants, data analysts, and creative collaborators. The result? Smarter workflows and more personalised strategies.

2. Algorithm shake-ups

Prepare for changes in content feeds as Meta removes fact-checkers, paving the way for a resurgence of political content. This shift will likely push platforms to compete harder for user attention. For marketers, staying agile and adapting content strategies to algorithm updates will be critical.

3. Platform Diversification is non-negotiable

The TikTok ban has underscored the importance of a diversified social media strategy. In 2025, creators and brands will prioritise maintaining at least three strong channels to mitigate risks and ensure reach. Diversification isn’t just smart—it’s essential.

4. YouTube’s influence will soar

Already a powerhouse, YouTube is set to grow even further. Its connection to Google search, short-form video capabilities, and the rise of video podcasts make it a cornerstone for social media strategies. If YouTube isn’t already in your playbook, now’s the time to integrate it.

5. Employee Generated Content goes mainstream

Employee Generated content (EGC) has been simmering on the edges of marketing strategies for years (I even designed a workshop in 2023 to start training workplaces on EGC and personal branding and it took a while for employers to get it at first!), but 2025 will see it go mainstream. Early adopters of EGC and personal branding have already reaped the benefits, especially on platforms like LinkedIn. Companies that empower employees to create and share content will stand out in a crowded market.

It’s an exciting (and busy!) time in social media marketing. Staying ahead can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Follow me on socials for regular insights, or send me a DM to schedule a 1:1 consultation tailored to your needs.
