2025 marketing hot list for solopreneurs
It’s a new year and we are all so ready for a fresh start. Here’s my list of some of the areas to prioritse for solo business owners and founders in 2025. Some are a little bit timeless and so ‘business teacher’ while others are more trend focused.
Keep an eye on my socials, this is just the beginning of a whole bunch of newness I have for you this year!
Old school marketing plans
Either reviewing what’s been created in the past or starting from scratch to produce a solid (but brief) marketing plan. This document is the backbone of strategic business planning but most of the time this step is bypassed by solo business owners who keep it all in their head.
Manipulating the marketing mix
Following on from the previous, this is another area that I find is always addressed in bits and pieces. The interaction between product, price, place, promotion (as well as the factors considered by the extended mix) is so important and will help provide clarity and direction.
Refocus on In person
We saw this last year but as the ‘Covid years’ continue to fall further into the past, I think in person needs to be top of marketing strategies, especially where there is no team or bricks and mortar as a touchpoint. Networking events, casual catch ups and old school out reach are still a bit of a novelty at the moment and I’m finding people are quite receptive to a personalised direct contact. We’ve seen brands step away from traditional influencer trips and PR and shower it upon their clients and customers - I think this will be huge this year.
You’ll be the influencer
As the head honcho, CEO, solopreneur, founder or whatever other title you’ve been bestowed, you are the key link between your brand and customer. I’m going beyond basic personal branding here. I’m looking at those who are business owner first and become ‘influencer’ second. Whether it’s a separate profile, an unhinged TikTok or (gulp) LinkedIn or my personal choice Substack, there is a platform for even the most coy entrepreneur to build their following.
What are you adding to your social media strategy in 2025?
