Niching isn’t a life long commitment – you can change your mind!
I often tell my clients about the period of time where I would walk into a networking event or even just the local supermarket and would find myself referred to as ‘The Instagram Lady’.
My first instinct was to push back, detail my qualifications and expanded skill set but that would have been silly – my marketing was working. Instagram was the go-to platform at the time, people were thirsty for education and I had the background to provide it so I was focusing my content there.
I was successfully executing a strategy but I was worried about being pigeon holed. But, there was no need, niching at that point formed the foundation of where I am at now and gave me space to showcase my areas of expertise beyond the Insta algorithm.
I strongly believe that niching isn’t static and can be used strategically and to different extents to suit the marketing strategy – if you’ve been too scared to niche and put a label on what you do, I’d suggest giving it a try, especially on LinkedIn where keywords are everything and monitor the results.
