Marketing thoughts and predictions for 2022
Well, if 2021 has taught us anything, it’s to expect lots of tit for tat and clawing for market share in the social media marketing space.
We’ve been hit with name changes, new features galore and algorithms that no one can crack.
So what do I think we will see more of in the new year? I’ve made a list!
Higher demand for interaction - with Instagram adding features such as ‘add yours’ and trialing the ability to reply to reels with videos the demand for interaction is growing. Gone are the days where commenting and liking was enough, now users want an immersive experience with the content. Think 360 degree videos, questionnaires and more features that prompt duel use of the app (like the collaboration feature) between users.
Even less focus on followers - more nurturing, more targeting and more 1:1 engagement. I think smart brands will focus on their ‘brand fans’ more and leverage them to attract the new followers.
Following on from that, with the accessibility of online store ownership and the great resignation, we are faced with a number of saturated markets and lots of consumer choice. To combat this, I predict marketers will need to focus more than ever of brand identity and awareness. With so much choice, consumers will be making buying decisions based on branding.
Privacy restrictions will continue to impact. Like the Apple updates, talk of changes to FB advertising will see targeting harder and your website analytics will become event more important for accurate data.
Diversity and inclusiveness will play an even bigger part of marketing in 2022 - I feel there will be brands that will make changes in good conscious and do it well but I do think there will be many that get it wrong.
Value propositions will become even more important than ever. Consumers will be demanding to know what a brand stands for and clever brands will make sure their audience knows what to expect from them.
Social shopping mechanisms will grow and improve with in-app shopping becoming even easier and trusted by consumers.
These are my predictions, what do you see trending in 2022?
